This 723 word fill is an experiment with something very different than my usual writing style. It is strongly inspired by the Solarpunk game "Green Skies" by SmallRedRobin13 and [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith's prompt for my January Final Friday Fics

Green Skies G.T. - January 2053

Designation: Green Skies Grand Traverse (Nickname: G.T.) AI Enhanced Eco-Friendly Low Rise Residential Dwelling

Maintenance Log:

- This month I have been overhauling the plastic and glass recycler in my below grade level with an upgrade sent by the Green Skies server that shall allow me to turn the recycled materials into reinforced plasti-crete and window panes. I can then use these materials to make repairs to the Arboretum Wall, or if I choose, expand to a fourth floor. I am considering my options for the expansion carefully and have scheduled a resident discussion for March.

- Experienced Elation!

- 11-1-2053 Work order received for Floor 2 West residence. Water damage in bathroom resolved.

- 12-1-2053 Work order received for Floor 2 West residence. Water damage in bathroom resolved.

- 13-1-2053 Work order received for Floor 2 West residence. Water damage in bathroom resolved.

- Experienced Irritation. Requested consultation with residents.

- 14-1-2053 Consultation with residents revealed that household's youngest offspring had been "giving my stuffies a baths!" while they were at work. Household's teenaged offspring was providing oversight, and had failed to prevent incidents of "bath time." Resident's apologized and offered to complete an extra work day in February. Apology and offer accepted.

- 21-1-2053 Snow removal underway. Final accumulation: 11 inches heavy wet snow with 1/2 inch layer of ice underneath.

Resident Calendar:

- 1-1-2053 received rental and/or subsidy payments for residences.

- 4-1-2053 Monthly resident potluck in my Community Center and Kitchen. Residents in attendance: Nine.  I assisted with Karaoke and on my turn I sang "Buildings and Bridges" by Ani Defranco.

- Experienced Amusement.

- 25-1-2053 Annual exchange of consumer goods, aka "The Stuff Exchange" occurred. Residents in attendance: Eleven. Community members in attendance: Seven. After my residents and their guests completed their swap activities I coordinated with Thrifty Kids! to collect the remaining unwanted items to sell at their thrift store, or further donate to the local shelters. The human representative for Thrifty Kids! Erin Jones expressed delight to hear from me once again. I have been invited to call them more than once per year.

Neighborhood Revitalization Committee:

- 28-1-2053 I attended the NRC meeting remotely, and made notes of fellow buildings that might need materials I have in surplus. Representatives of 1805 Fairplain Drive made another request for carpeting. I have 3,000 square feet of mixed fiber level loop carpeting in Timeless Taupe on hand and can spare 1,000 square feet. 1805's representatives accepted. Other matters covered were the proposed demolition of a public housing high rise on the edge of the neighborhood. Efforts to raise the funds to rehabilitate 400 Riverview are currently stalled. Matter tabled until next month in order to solicit more community feedback on proposed options.

- Experienced Solemnity. I hope no one ever has to discuss my demolition. Alternatively, I continue to be hopeful that another AI enhanced residential dwelling will be built in this neighborhood. It would be interesting to talk to another building, rather than other buildings' human representatives.

Emergency Response Protocols:

- 20-1-2053 9:06 a.m. Winter Storm Warning active for my area. I have slid the metal shutter over the Arboretum Wall. I have placed protections over the roof's solar power farm and rainwater recycler.

- 20-1-2053 12:18 p.m. Heavy snow and sleet have begun. If I were touch sensitive I believe the hard sleeting pellets would be unpleasant. I can hear the resident's remarking about the sting as they hustle through the lobby towards the stairs.

- 20-1-2053 3:47 p.m. Snow accumulation 3 inches. I posted a digital announcement on the resident's doors that there is now hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and boiling water for tea ready in my Community Center and Kitchen. Residents in attendance: All fifteen.

- 20-1-2053 4:23 p.m. Weather alerts received that the Winter Storm Warning has been upgraded to a Blizzard Warning. County residents encouraged to shelter in place and avoid driving on the roads. I have placed the updated warning on the digital portion of the Community Center and Kitchen bulletin board and all residents in attendance have agreed to stay inside my structure. Thankful sentiments were expressed by many of my residents for the warm beverages I prepared.

- Experienced Relief. I am comforted to know that the residents will stay inside where I can help keep them safe.

~~~Notes~~~
Green Skies Grand Traverse is a high tech low rise apartment community along the "West Bay" of Grand Traverse Bay in Northern Michigan. It has stunning views out over the water, and one wall is completely covered in pleasing aesthetic plants and varied food crops along its southern exposure. The roof has systems for rainwater recycling and solar power.
Green Skies Grand Traverse is sentient. It doesn't know if it was built that way, or grew to know itself. Currently it stands three stories high, but also boasts a multiuse basement level. Part of the basement is roughly finished to provide resident storage lockers, bicycle parking and electric scooter charging stations, and five electric vehicles. Four green colored cars are available for residents to reserve, and the red and white car is kept available only for emergency transportation. Another large part of the basement has been finished into a community center and kitchen where residents can gather and reserve the space for large parties. The final piece of the basement is a combination glass and plastic recycling center and maintenance hub.
Each floor is divided into two residences, East and West. The Eastern apartments have a view out over the bay, while the Western Apartments look towards the cozy neighborhood that surrounds Green Skies Grand Traverse.
Thank you!
This is so adorable. :D I love it and would greatly enjoy seeing more about this character/setting. I call this experiment a great success.
Yay! I really enjoy nonhuman characters like this, and not a lot of people write them well. Or at all.
Does your prompt call have a schedule that I can write down, or is it intermittent? You can boost the signal on [community profile] crowdfunding.
