The Prompt Call is Closed. I’ll be writing for the prompts I received over the next week - thank you to all who participated!

Today's Final Friday Fics is open with a theme of "I Made You Soup." Final Friday Fics are a way for me to reach out to readers to gain inspiration at the end of the month to write stories they would like to read. I'll use the prompts and suggestions as inspiration for short drabble sized pieces of fiction, generally 200+ words in length.

I'm hoping to get prompts for all kind gestures - like making soup for someone who is ill, taking care of a child, or other Hurt/Comfort prompts. Feel free to make suggestions that tie into my ongoing series or for something completely new.

I still have 8 open squares on my March Is... Bingo Card if you'd like to riff off of those prompts to help me complete a Bingo.

These are the current Series that I'm writing episodically that you might want to offer prompts for:
  • The Earthen - Fantasy - The tales of The Earthen, tiny nutlike beings who live in warrens, and are highly cooperative.
  • OtherWorldly - Dark Urban Fantasy - Carnelle the Succubus is on the Hunt for a killer.
  • RePrint - Science Fiction - Althea has chosen to undergo an unusual medical procedure that will allow her to imprint new memories of important first experiences.
  • Village Witch - Edwina - Steam Punk/Fantasy - These stories are being created as a playthrough of the Solo TTRPG "Village Witch." Edwina has a year to find the village where she belongs as their Village Witch.
  • Green Skies G.T. - Cozy Science Fiction - The monthly logs of G.T., a sentient apartment dwelling, and it's inhabitants. Currently there are 3 monthly logs posted, and I'm actively writing the log for April 2053.
Ways you can help support Final Friday Fics:
  • Leave prompts, suggestions, and encouraging comments.
  • Feel free to share this page and promote more people to participate in the Prompt Call.
  • Would you like to buy me a Chai as I write? You can find my Tip Jar on Ko-Fi.

Green Skies G.T.
I would love to see people creating a soup algorithm, or if you don't feel up to that, working with a pre-existing one. This sort of thing is perfect for group gatherings where everyone brings something in the "stone soup" model, but it also helps people to stretch a limited food budget farther by using up odds and ends of things. If you have a common kitchen, you can leave a crockpot of "eternal soup" simmering and just add to it periodically.

You can see examples in my poem "To Feel Safe and Warm" and its content notes.

Cultural soups for different specific things, for example chicken noodle soup when you are sick for jewish Americans or hangover soup for Koreans.

Reprint - Althea trying to recreate or find a soup she remembered.
