Story: Green Skies G.T. - April 2053

4th G.T. story kicks off my December Amnesty prompt fills will 572 words! This has been inspired twice over by ysabetwordsmith and fills the "Old Tinkerer With a Strange Artifact" square on my April Gothic Bingo Card. The first story, "Green Skies G.T. - January 2053" was strongly inspired by the Solarpunk game "Green Skies" by SmallRedRobin13.

Because there are now more than 3 stories, Green Skies G.T. has gained a landing page!

Green Skies G.T. - April 2053

Designation: Green Skies Grand Traverse (Nickname: G.T.) AI Enhanced Eco-Friendly Low Rise Residential Dwelling

 

Maintenance Log:

- 1-4-2053 Plastic and Glass Recyclers working at 98.4% efficiency. 100% of production is being routed into plasti-crete for the construction of the 4th floor exterior walls.

 

- 4-4-2053 Exterior security camera 2N has a visual on The Pots. Blue Pot is…blooming?

Zoom and Enhance. Blooms confirmed! 6 of the 11 daffodil buds have opened. They're…searching database…the blooms are…searching Green Skies Servers…Beautiful. Sensational. Glorious.

Resident Calendar:

- 1-4-2053 received rental and/or subsidy payments for residences.

- 5-4-2053 Monthly resident potluck in my Community Center and Kitchen. Residents in Attendance: Nine. An older game, Apples to Apples, was received from Green Skies Resources, and my residents appeared to have a hilarious time being silly and illogical with the prompts on their cards. My winning match was the red apple "Wildfires" for the green apple prompt of "Agonizing." Most residents did not laugh much at that combination however, so my logical take on the game is clearly lacking something fundamental.

 

Neighborhood Revitalization Committee:

- 29-4-2053 The monthly NRC meeting was held in my Community Center and Kitchen. The human representatives of many local buildings attended, more than normal. I believe an opportunity to tour myself was a large factor in the enhanced participation, but I cannot discount the number of pleased exclamations over my expanded Beverage Bar. My countertop area has been cleared of the hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and boiling water for tea I have had going since the Blizzard in January, and been replaced with a semi-smart 48" kitchen cart peripheral crafted by SensiTech. My Bbar, as I've been referring to it, has offered me completely new experiences! Sensations, not just data readings, of Hot, Iced, and Wet. It's been an adjustment. But the local community representatives were clearly fascinated. For the lovely Spring weather we had today I featured Wild Violet Sparkling Water and Cherry Rose Green Tea, in addition to my normal coffee, tea, and cocoa assortment. I believe my first attempt at hosting the NRC was a real success.

~~~Notes~~~

 

Green Skies Grand Traverse is a high tech low rise apartment community along the "West Bay" of Grand Traverse Bay in Northern Michigan. It has stunning views out over the water, and one wall is completely covered in pleasing aesthetic plants and varied food crops along its southern exposure. The roof has systems for rainwater recycling and solar power.

 

Green Skies Grand Traverse is sentient. It doesn't know if it was built that way, or grew to know itself. Currently it stands three stories high, but also boasts a multiuse basement level. Part of the basement is roughly finished to provide resident storage lockers, bicycle parking and electric scooter charging stations, and five electric vehicles. Four green colored cars are available for residents to reserve, and the red and white car is kept available only for emergency transportation. Another large part of the basement has been finished into a community center and kitchen where residents can gather and reserve the space for large parties. The final piece of the basement is a combination glass and plastic recycling center and maintenance hub.

 

Each floor is divided into two residences, East and West. The Eastern apartments have a view out over the bay, while the Western Apartments look towards the cozy neighborhood that surrounds Green Skies Grand Traverse.

Now I'm wondering what G.T would think of stray cats, and what if one mamma cat had kittens...

That would make a great prompt. I suspect G.T. would be fascinated by cats. They're good at discouraging vermin of many kinds, and G.T. definitely would not enjoy squirrels.

So that's, what, only 6 people (or families) in the whole building? It sounded like more. If they're taking up half a floor, though, maybe these are big 4-6 bedroom apartments meant for large families or sharehouses?

I've made a note to post some meta data with G.T.'s floor plan sometime in January. I think that'll help explain their smaller size.

Edited to add: Isn't there a Meta challenge coming up in the next 3 months? Maybe I'll save it for that. Unless it can't be applied to original works, and is a fan challenge only. Hmm...

It does not mention whether meta of original works is welcome or not, but you could ask.
